Beeper Mono: Structural Imperfection on the Base-7 Grid

Intelligence Matters releases Beeper Mono, a production monospaced family in three weights — Light, Regular and Bold — built on a rigid Base-7 matrix with no Bézier curves.

WHAT OPENED

A typeface, not a room. Beeper Mono is issued as a compiled family: desktop TrueType and WOFF2 webfont, ready to install and to serve.

WHAT IS IN IT

Three weights on one cell. Light 28u, Regular 56u, Bold 112u. Advance locked at 644 units. Slashed zero by default. 45° miters throughout.

WHAT IT PROPOSES

The collisions stay. Stems meet the baseline without optical blending. The grid is not a style. It is a refusal of polish.

Intelligence Matters publishes Beeper Mono as a production family. Three weights — Light, Regular, Bold — occupy one 644-unit cell. The unit is 7. Stems scale 4 × 7, 8 × 7, 16 × 7. Nothing in the outline is a curve. Axes are straight. Corners are 45° miters.

Capital S and numeral 5 share an octagonal bowl and a waist at y = 336u. The bar of E and the waist of 3 sit on the same datum. Zero is slashed at 45°. The oval O is a different object.

Most screen fonts spend their intelligence on disappearing. Beeper Mono spends it on remaining visible after the raster. The awkward joint is the work.
