HHG Webring 001 links the five properties of Haegg Haegg Group into a single ring — each site carrying a line to the next, the way the earliest web held itself together.

A webring is the oldest social technology on the internet and the least algorithmic: no feed decides who sees whom; the sites simply vouch for each other by linking. It is also the least ownable structure the web has ever run — five sites holding each other up, with nothing in the middle to own. Nothing here recommends you. You are passed from hand to hand.

The estate draws that ring as one continuous strand of barbed wire, to patent grade — the convention a patent office demands, where every barb is shown as it would be manufactured and nothing may be styled. The wire is not decoration. Barbed wire had several inventors and one winner: Glidden's patent of 1874, number 157,124, out of DeKalb, Illinois, was the version cheap enough to put around a prairie, and inside two decades the open range was finished. It did not defend land. It invented the idea that land could be held. The men it closed out called it the devil's rope.

Drawing a commons in the devil's rope is the estate's one claim, made in the only material that has ever made a claim stick — and turned inward. Five bodies read as one mass. The wire goes around the group and around nothing else.
